How To Care For Your Incision Post Surgery
After heart surgery, it’s important that you keep your incision site clean to prevent infection and promote healing. It’s recommended that you clean the incision area with warm (not hot) soapy water in the shower twice a day. Avoid soaking in bathtubs or jacuzzis for at least 4 weeks-if you are having trouble standing in the shower for a prolonged period of time, consider using a shower stool as an alternative. If you are experiencing any of the above symptoms, it might be time to give your doctor a call.
